Registered Physical Location: Federal regulations (including Kari's Law and RAY BAUM’S Act) require VoIP phone services to be registered to a specific, dispatchable physical address for emergency 911 service routing.
Service Limitations: Unlike traditional landline telephone services, 911 calls placed through VoIP systems or softphone applications may fail, function improperly, or route to incorrect emergency dispatch units if:
The registered physical location/address on file is inaccurate or outdated.
There is a power outage or internet connectivity interruption.
The call is made from a mobile app without active device GPS or cellular data connectivity.
Alternate Emergency Calling: In the event of an emergency, callers are advised to use a standard cellular line or traditional landline to dial 911 whenever possible.
